Current Opportunities

Assistant or Associate Professor
Tufts University – Allen Discovery Center
The Department of Biology invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in Developmental or Regenerative Biology with membership in the Allen Discovery Center at Tufts. We seek a creative scholar with primary expertise in large-scale pattern regulation in embryogenesis or regeneration. We expect this individual to use state-of-the-art technology and quantitative approaches toward an integrative, multi-scale understanding and control of anatomical patterning. Ideal candidates will address molecular and computational controls of large-scale morphology, synthesizing data and models across genetics, physiology, and anatomy. Integrating across levels of organization, from molecules to organs, is essential. Aquatic model species are especially welcome, as are approaches that involve biophysical forces, high-performance imaging, optogenetics, in vivo electrophysiology, and computational analysis and modeling beyond the cell level.

Post-doctoral fellow, Fuchs laboratory
Tufts University – Allen Discovery Center
The Fuchs laboratory at Tufts University is searching for a talented post-doctoral fellow who is interested in studying chromatin modifications and their role in epigenetic regulation during organismal development and regeneration. Applicants should have a strong background in biochemistry and/or molecular biology and ideally some experience with chromatin biology. Applications will be reviewed as soon as they are received. Interviews will commence in September, and candidates will be expected to start as soon as possible. Interested applicants should send a cover letter that explains why you think the Fuchs laboratory is the appropriate environment for
the next phase of your career, a CV, and the names of three references to steve.fuchs@allencenter.tufts.edu.

Post-doctoral fellow, McLaughlin laboratory
Tufts University – Allen Discovery Center
The McLaughlin laboratory at Tufts University is searching for a talented post-doctoral fellow who is interested in studying how bioelectric signals and the genetic composition of cells interact to determine cell fate and pattern formation during the development and repair of organs and tissues. Applicants should have a strong background in molecular biology and ideally some experience with electrophysiology and/or working with Xenopus laevis. Applications will be reviewed as soon as they are received. Interviews will commence in September, and candidates will be expected to start as soon as possible. Interested applicants should send a CV and the names of three references to kelly.mclaughlin@tufts.edu.

Allen Discovery Center Facilities

The Allen Discover Center will be housed in Tufts University's the Science & Engineering Complex (SEC). The SEC will foster interdisciplinary research within two broad research themes — environmental science and neuroscience. It will house research and equipment core facilities for use by the entire campus community, and multidisciplinary teaching labs.
